Supernode - In peer-to-peer networking, a supernode works as one of that network’s relayers and proxy servers, handling data flow and connections for other users. This usually requires a fairly fast Internet connection with a lot of bandwidth and a modest amount of CPU time, as a lot of data will invariably pass through the supernode and needs to be processed.
Some peer-to-peer designs allow for the user to choose whether they ever want to be treated as supernodes; others do not. Skype by default is configured as a supernode, an issue that has caused controversy.

There are several ways to prevent Skype from becoming a supernode:
* Beginning with Skype 3.0, an explicit switch is provided in the registry settings to allow the disabling of supernode functionality.
* Any computer hosted on a network that is behind a network address translation (NAT) device or restrictive firewall will disable supernode functionality.
* Skype clients behind an HTTP or SOCKS5 proxy will not serve as supernodes.

Some Windows users have been affected by a malware program that imitates Skype software and attempts to steal sensitive information. 65404-SkypeDefenderSetup.exe is classified as an Infostealer, that is, a Trojan horse program that attempts to steal sensitive information such as login credentials.
When executed it displays a confirmation window with the following text, “Skype-Defender(TM) Installed! Please login to your account to apply new plugins”.
When the user clicks the OK button, the malware displays what looks like a Skype login screen, but which has a different-looking sign-in button.
When the user enters the Skype username and password, the malware displays a message saying that the name and password were unrecognized.
The malware collects the entered Skype username and password, as well as all usernames and passwords saved in Internet Explorer, and sends them over to a website that collects this stolen data.
To remove the malware, please update your anti-virus software. At this time, we have notified F-Secure, TrendMicro, Symantec, WebSense, and FaceTime Security Labs. For manual removal it is enough to delete the 65404-SkypeDefenderSetup.exe file.
Если все таки “подцепили” того “червяка” через Skype и сканирование вашим антивирусом (если он есть. если нет, то должен быть!) ничего не дало, то вот инструкция, как удалить его вручную:
1. Перезагружаемся в Safe Mode
2. Start -> Run -> Regedit
3. Идем в "HKLM/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/runonce", находим там "mshtmldat32.exe" и удаляем.
4. Закрываем Regedit. Идем в директорию Windows\System32 и оттуда удаляем след. файлы: wndrivs32.exe, mshtmldat32.exe, winlgcvers.exe, sdrivew32.exe
5. Затем в директории Windows\System32\drivers\etc находим файл hosts (может быть скрытым)
6. Открываем Notepad-ом и удаляем оттуда всё (если вы сами туда ничего не добавляли). Save, Close.
7. Перезагружаемся в обычном режиме.

Впредь будьте внимательней и не скачивайте файлы с неизвестных сайтов, если не знаете расширение скачиваемого файла и, даже если и знаете расширение, лучше подумайте дважды. В случае этого “червяка”, он давал ссылку на .jpg файл, а на скачивания давал .scr файл. Разве это ничуть не подозрительно? 
Судя по всему, дожили - теперь спам и в Skype есть… С утра уже двое мне прислали следующее:

То есть не совсем спам, а вирус (троян), отсылающий вот эту хреномуть через Skype без ведома владельца зараженного компьютера. Картинки там естественно никакой нет, вместо неё предлагает скачать .scr файл. Вирус “на лохов”, шибко доверчивых и просто тех, кто не знает, что картинок с разрешением .scr не бывает.
Посылаю луч космической недельной диареи авторам этого червя.
